La Bibavou

Oops, I must have gone to the wrong place. I was coming to the bakery, but I ended up at Béton de France. The cake, a vanilla Trianon, was loaded with buttercream that my spoon refused to even touch. It buckled under the sheer hardness of the buttercream. As for the multi-fruit cake, what can I say? If there was any fruit, it was purely for decoration; the only flavor was banana. Disappointed? No, just disgusted by the price: €57 for a concrete-laden mess of a banana cake and four baguettes that were rock hard the next day. You really have to go to this concrete-laden bakery/pastry shop.

Cakes sold with mousse, but the mousse for the opera cake is buttercream, rock-hard, even though it's advertised as vanilla. The birthday cake batter has a strong, damp taste. The tutti frutti was disappointing; it tasted like banal fruit, unlike the other fruits used for decoration. Other pastry chefs would have refused to include tutti frutti. Disappointing, it's a shame. Better organization and a little more care would be appreciated.

The Bibavou baguette is very, very good. Crispy and very flavorful. I highly recommend it.

Special mention goes to their special baguette, the Bibavou baguette with Guérande salt; there's nothing else like it in Caen. Their sandwiches are pretty good too. However, the rest isn't great, which is a shame because we really want their business to succeed, but unfortunately, it's not up to par, in my opinion. I think their bakery is just a few things away from being a success.

Although their pastries aren't the best, everything else is excellent, especially their croissants and pain au chocolat!

Best croissants I've ever eaten

I bought a can of soda that expired a year ago. Plus, the cashier took 20 minutes to ring up the cans. No croissants or pain au chocolat were visible at 7:30 am; the cakes and bread were clearly from the day before. Avoid this bakery.

A disgrace for a bakery! We bought strawberry tarts with strawberries that looked awful, the base was soggy, and the Paris-Brest éclairs had choux pastry as hard as a rock, not to mention the cream, which was as solid as concrete. We wonder if the pastry chefs are construction workers.

A disgrace! We had two Paris-Brest pastries and two strawberry tarts. The strawberry tart was a disgrace—completely soggy, and don't even get me started on the state of the strawberries! The Paris-Brest's choux pastry was rock hard! And the buttercream was so thin! I was so embarrassed in front of my guests.

There are better pastries and viennoiseries, but you can see the passion is there. Special mention goes to their specialty, the Bibavou. The service is always top-notch; we always need these local businesses.

Bought a loaf of bread and a baguette, extremely disappointing. The baguette went straight in the bin; it had a strange smell and taste, and the loaf had no flavor at all. I suspect it was defrosted and ended up joining the baguette. That's it for me.
